Supporting Gungahlin Residents within the Community

Gungahlin Family and Community Support

The service provides social and emotional assistance and support to clients and their families through inter-agency referral, case management and advocacy in a confidential and relaxed environment.

Monday through Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm. Located at the Gungahlin Community Resource Centre (next to the library), 47 Ernest Cavanagh Street, Gungahlin.

"Time for Me" — "Time for Others"

A six week informal session group for every parent interested in participating and building the bridge for a closer and more connected family unit. Through sharing life experiences and gaining skills, participants will be offered opportunities to learn new tools and strategies to strengthen positive family relationships with their children.

Celebrating Creative Minds: Women's Support Group

For women interested in making new friends and promoting mental health & well-being while engaging in a variety of creative, fun activities. Coffee and tea will provided but we encourage participants to bring healthly snacks.

Where: Every Tuesday at the Gungahlin Community Resource Centre
When: 10am - 12pm

Mental Health First Aid Course — Next course October

Mental Health First Aid is a 12 hour interactive program for people from all cultural backgrounds who may be carers, friends or support workers supporting someone with Mental Health issues.

The course teaches:

  • Mental Health First-Aid Skills
  • How to Recognise the Symptoms
  • Provide Initial Help and
  • Guide a Person towards appropriate Professional Help

Bookings essential
Cost: $10.00 covers the cost of the course certificate and manual
Date: 17, 24 and 31 October and 7 November 2008
Time: 9.30am - 12.30
Place: Gungahlin Community Resource Centre

M.A.T.E.S (Men's Activities that Ease Stress)

M.A.T.E.S aims to engage with, and encourage men's participation in a range of recreational and life skill activities, as a means to lessen the ill effects of social isolation and physical inactivity.

Will commence in 2008. Cost to be advised.
